..this little kitchen of ours

 We love scaffolding- its become a sculpture in our living room

(notice Lillys doggy bone?)

 living in this house with 4 kids over 10 years has taken its toll on the floors, the kitchen and me.

 and with our big family- we need more space!

 Here's the heart of our home the kitchen

the wall between the kitchen and the dining room is knocked down to let more natural light in

  2 solar tubes in the ceiling being installed
letting more natural light
 and it s wonderful!
 

  this BEAUTIFUL Star Trek mother board island
is being removed for a rectangular one.

 the stove and the fridge are our saving grace as we
 live "camping" style

 It's hard with all the construction workers in and out,
on the roof,
in the kitchen

 noise and dust everywhere.

Especially for a homebody like me.

 I know once finished I will be able to Disco Dance on my granite countertops in sheer joy!

  a new knitting project to keep my mind off the noise in the kitchen and cope with the stress.

 

 In the mean time I hide upstairs in my studio and drink Tea in the only mug I could find

- everything is in boxes

 

So I "speak the truth"...remodeling is stressful

 

but it has to be done

 because in our families case

 

 the kitchen is where the heart is

 

Finding Taos

 Along this long windy and winding road by the river...it leads us to Taos.

 They call it the low road.

 

The following morning...early according to the kids, 6 am
 we jumped in the car
due north

I was going to Taos or bust!

 This magic land that I have read and heard about so much about

needed to be explored!

  From the back seat came a scream...

Foghorn alerted us that there was a hole in the earth!

 It's the Rio Grande Gorge

  The mountains were calling our name-
we actually blazed thru the town of Taos and headed straight for the hills

 This scenic road brought us right up to Taos ski valley

 Imagine that?

  We just left Montucky and right back into it again- the mountains and the snow that is...

  Don't panic!
what do you mean???
we should have brought our skiis!!!

 This is definitely the time to panic!

  9500 above sea level
 whew doggy!

 yours truly got altitude sick
I felt so light headed

 After spending too much money in the ski shops

and enjoying fabulous coffee and organic banana bread slope side

 we hit the road towards town again

 eeeeeeeeappp! the colors

 The charming architecture

 ...this has my name all over it!

 Old Churches

 and finally the plaza

 

 filled with tourist

 pushy shop owners

 

 numerous vibrantly painted Skelton's

 and an exaggerated amount of stuff and souvenirs

 endless art galleries of sunrises and sunsets

 over priced yarns

 overpriced everything

 it was all a blur to me

 

We all seek different things when we travel
 

 have expectations
 yearn for epic experiences

 learn new things-meet new people
 

 writing this with an honest hand from my own personal perspective

 and
with all the hype that this place has stirred up
 I leave disappointed

but then again I was only here for a short amount of time

 

Back to wide open spaces and nature for me

quick!

Off to explore the Rio Grande and hopefully the "Earth ship" community

Mountain Girl Yarns will have a few changes this spring/summer season

 This will be the last update of new yarns for a while

once the yarns are sold

 

 being away for a bit open my mind and I have put much thought into it 

 decided to change location online for my shop-

working on moving from ETSY to my own spot.

 

 Adding plant dyed yarns

 after popular demand here and on instagram
 folks have been requesting

 

New yarns will also be introduced this season

 some that are local here to the Rocky Mountain range

beautiful rustic, soft and dreamy

 they have that special feel to it

when you stick your nose in it and smell it like wool should smell

 

 this will be offered in fingering weight and DK

 Natural crème colored and natural greys too

 

 I asked myself what would I like to purchase and see offered in a shop?

therefor branching out and offering something special and unique

in addition to my one of a kind hand dyed yarns

 the exact time  when this will come about is still unknown
 we are in the middle of a huge kitchen renno so things are a little upside down
shooting for May/June time frame
 

 I am currently selling Mountain Girl yarns at Shops at ST. 8

 and will be at the new farmers market here locally this summer
