House renno

Well we are officially out for a while, no water or gas. The floors are being done this week, sanding and then 3 days of varnish. Cabinets are in and the shelves, I have become a minimalist over the years- I hate clutter and often feel strangled with "stuff", so as I design my kitchen I want it to be clean and functional, might be the Scandinavian in me. I love the color, so pretty, with all the natural light coming it looks like sea glass nice contrast to the wood and the granite coming in.
When in New Mexico I was struck buy the architecture- noticing how much wood and beams they used. Guess what, its happening in out house. It just adds warmth and the the vaulted ceiling just pops.

We added a wall between the hall way entrance and the dining room- so tired of looking at coats and shoes while eating. We found an old window that gives it some interest and natural light.

The new enclosed entry way- more defined and with a beautiful new alder front door!

Mimi is completely oblivious to all the the compressors, nail guns, sawsall and hammering. She is quite fond of our contractor - and is hamming it up as usual.

...and the midst of this I am refinishing some old furniture. An old piece that needs an over haul. I am painting it tomato red to go with our kitchen lights and using a blow torch to create a special finish. Will show you when done.
