Gardening requires lots of water — most of it in the form of perspiration.
~Lou Erickson
A garden is always a series of losses set against a few triumphs, like life itself.
~May Sarton
....and that sums up my garden experience this year. I have decided that vegetable gardening is not for me. My life is simply too busy with more interesting things than weeding. I refuse to use chemicals and so...the weeds win again. My flowers did awesome but my veggies became overtaken by weeds. I was just too busy enjoying my family and what Montana has to offer in the summer time that the weeds moved right in. That's ok. Next year I will be supporting the local farmers market, maybe even do a CSA again.
That is the same reason I don't have a vegetable garden...my summers are simply too busy to find time to fight the weeds. Your flowers are stunning!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you Erica, summer is just to short to be fighting with weeds.
DeleteYou more than made up with it with your flowers. I've never gotten into gardening either. It sounds promising but with my outdoor kitties, I just don't think it would be a good match.
ReplyDeleteThank you Candace- yes the flowers and I get along very well.
DeleteAs always, your pictures are amazing. Too bad the weeds won this year :)
ReplyDeleteThank you - yep the weeds won- next year there will only be flowers.
Deletewhat a lovely philosophical approach. Weeds won again in my world, too. (Mosquitoes also won and drove me indoors.)
ReplyDeleteOh no not hose pesky mosquitoes! Yep, sometimes you just have to know when to throw in the towel :)
DeleteOh those pesky weeds, they are taking over my herb bed at the moment and my ground is so wet from all the rain that I never got a fall garden in the ground. Looks like both of us will be at the market :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun meeting you at the market Tracey- too bad we don't live closer.
DeleteI can almost smell those flowers. Thank you for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteYep, they were colorful and lovely :)
DeleteNever mind about the veggies, your beautiful flowers more than make up for them! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna- yes, the flowers brought much gladness, veggies - smedgies.
DeleteI hear you :). Sometimes I feel like I am loosing the battle......
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful, I hope they were worth the time and effort.
Love the new layout.
Yes, flowers are really worth the effort- and they brighten my indoors with a bouquet too. Thank you- loving the new layout too- time for a change.
DeleteYour flowers are lovely, I have never tried to grow flowers. I have tried the veggie thing and for me to time and lack of knowledge made them a bit of a failure!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, there is affair amount of time invested I a veggie garden if you want it to work out- at least in my case, I don't have it in me.
DeleteRight there with ya'!
ReplyDeleteOh good, I'm glad not to be alone :)
Deleteyour flowers are lovely! I am not big on weeding either- I find I have better luck with cherry tomatoes, some herbs that can get a little wild, and kale. kale seems to be able to handle itself.
ReplyDeleteYes to herbs and tomatoes- next year in containers on my porch where the weeds can't reach them.
DeleteI hear you : ) As much as I want to be a vegetable garden girl, I can't seem to be one. I'm banking on the hopes it will happen eventually, maybe. XO ps. beautiful, beautiful photos! the colours are staggering.
ReplyDelete...and that is just it- I wish I was a veggie girl- but I'm a flower girl and I guess that's ok. Maybe edible flowers next year he.he.
DeleteI'd say your garden is beautiful! we only had flowers this year, we didn't have the time or inclination to put in a veg garden (wedding....). Next year for sure!
ReplyDeleteLove love flowers. I also love the tilt shift you've got going on in your photos. Really neat effect!!!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts entirely ... we can't all be self sufficient, local growers need someone to sell to!
